The Algarve in southern Portugal is statistically the sunniest place in Europe, so for that reason alone, it is a great place to ride your bike off-season. Add to this the fact that there are some really challenging climbs (like the 902m up to Foia – view pictured below!), empty well-surfaced roads once you get away from the coast and fantastic value for money for food and accommodation.
To get to the Algarve, you should fly in to Faro – after that we will look after everything, including airport pick-up, bike set-up, vehicle support with a professional mechanic, ex-pro guides to ride with and fantastic accommodation (such as Vila Monte and Vale d’El Rei). Most people know the Algarve for the beaches and the strip of land alongside them, packed with tourists and endless hotels, but once you go a few kilometers inland and over to the West coast, it is completely different with rugged scenery and nobody to bother you.
