We have four tours we run at the moment, two road and two off-road (we also can run custom versions of these tours adding or taking away days and altering routes where necessary):
Winter training tour, Algarve
The Algarve has the most hours of sunshine of anywhere in Europe, so it is a great place to ride a bike in the Winter, with temperatures typically around 18 to 22ºc. Our routes do not include the busy coastal strip, but focus on the hills that lie around 10 kms inland and the wilder Atlantic coast.
On the standard 7 day tour, you will stay in two different hotels and we have a series of prepared routes that are available, depending on how hard you want to push. You can read more about Winter cycling training in the Algarve here.
The cost for 7 days is €780 per person (double room) or €920 per person single room based on a group of 5 to 10 riders. For groups of 10 riders or more, the price is €730 in double rooms or €870 in singles.
Northern Portugal mountain tour
The main focus for this tour is the Serra de Estrela mountain range, which climbs up to 1993 meters and present a variety of first category and our of category climbs. Unlike many other cycling Meccas round Europe, the Serra de Estrela is pretty much undeveloped, so it retains a very rural feel and there is very little traffic on the roads. Check out the routes and profile of the Portugal road bike tour here.
Our 7 day trip uses three different hotels and our ride lengths are between 80 and 130kms, depending on the group ability.
The cost for 7 days is €840 per person (double room) or €980 per person single room based on a group of 5 to 10 riders. For groups of 10 riders or more, the price is €790 in double rooms or €930 in singles.
Epic ride from Porto to Barcelona
We are currently working on a truly epic ride of around 1,550 kms (1,000 miles) from Porto in northern Portugal then into northern Spain along the northern coast and over the Pyrenees into France, through Andorra and down to Barcelona over 15 days. It will include some of the most famous climbs in the Pyrenees as well as the most stunning scenery that northern Portugal/Spain has to offer. This is a European cycling holiday like no other and will take place over 15 days, with full support (using pro or ex pro riders as guides and van support); 3 and 4 star hotels; good quality food; 2 rest days and touristic opportunities to take in the local culture. Daily distances vary between 90kms and 150kms (55 to 95 miles)
We need minimum groups of 10 (maximum 22) to make the ride viable and you would need to fly in to Porto, Lisbon or Vigo and out of Barcelona. The cost will be €2300 per rider including 15 days twin accommodation, breakfasts, evening meals and on the road snacks. We strongly recommend you bring your own bike, but bike hire is optional at €25 a day. We will soon be publishing some more information, but if you are interested in the bike ride of a lifetime, please email Charlie at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can send some more information. If you have a group of 10 or more riders, then we can go according to your schedule, but we will also be publishing at least one fixed date trip in the Summer that anyone can sign up to.
Santiago de Compostela to Fatima
This is a historic pilgrims’ route, from the western tip of Spain to central Portugal, linking two of the most famous shrines in Europe and takes 7 days to ride off-road. It has to be one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the world and we have an intermediate option which misses out the biggest climbs and a tough route which has some really challenging days.
You will stay in a different hotel each night – in most cases you will be able to ride to the hotel, but on a couple of nights, you will need to have a short transfer in the support vehicle.
The cost for 7 days is €840 per person (double room) or €990 per person single room based on a group of 5 to 10 riders. For groups of 10 riders or more, the price is €790 in double rooms or €940 in singles.
Serra de Freita
For this tour, you will stay in one hotel, based in Arouca at the foot of the Serra de Freita mountain range, which is one of Europe’s greatest mountain biking destinations. There are endless singe track routes, ranging from the extremely technical to very comfortable, with punishing ascents for those who want to ride them or up-hauls for those who don’t.
The cost for 7 days is €860 per person (double room) or €980 per person single room based on a group of 5 to 10 riders. For groups of 10 riders or more, the price is €810 in double rooms or €930 in singles.
We also have packages to ride sportives in Portugal, with full support. Please inquire for more information.
